This bit features traditional English Dee cheeks and a Myler MB 36 forward tilted ported mouth. It is a Myler level 2-3. It is USEF dressage legal (1/2012), FEI dressage legal (7/2016). Consult the organization's rule book for more information.
The MB 36 is a Myler alternative to the traditional mullen, but it has a wide low port that allows the tongue to pass under it comfortably. The port is 1" high, and tilted forward at a 45 angle, allowing just enough room for the horses tongue to elevate slightly and swallow, but not high enough for palate pressure. When the reins are engaged, the MB 36 applies pressure primarily to the bars and lip but also applies tongue pressure because of the forward tilt.
The dee without hooks is a traditional "D" shaped cheek with fixed attachment of the mouthpiece. This style keeps the mouthpiece from draping on the tongue, providing a more direct signal than the loose ring. The straight side of the dee will not pull through the mouth and does not pinch. This pony sized bit has smaller 3" Dees.
